Contract between the Samoothiri of Kozhikode and the Portuguese. He stated that from that time he would stop persevering Christians, allowing the establishment of churches in the kingdom of Kozhikode, supporting the Synod of Diamper, freeing all Christian prisoners and making spices available for Portuguese ships at the usual prices. In exchange, the Portuguese agreed to grant him “cartazes” each year for ships to Jiddah, Bengal, Aceh and Canara. Most importantly, the Samoothiri are waiting for their help for a joint attack on the kunjali Marakkar fortress near Ponnani. During settlement negotiations with the Joint Commission in 1792, samoothiri proved recalcitrant. To put him under pressure, part of his former territories (Payyanadu, Payyormala, Kizhakkumpuram, Vadakkampuram and Pulavayi) was leased to the ruler of Kurumburanadu as manager of the East India company. Finally, after lengthy negotiations, the Samoothiri succession was sold with the Mint and Maritime Customs. He also became temporarily responsible for the petty sovereigns and, in a sign of the exceptional position of the Samoothiri in Malabar, the product established for Beypore, Parappanadu and Vettattunadu was to be paid for by him. As mentioned above, these taxes and jurisdictions were subsequently terminated and Kozhikode`s Samoothiri became a simple pension owner who received the “malikhana”.
On 1 July 1800 Malabar was transferred to the presidency of Madras. On November 15, 1806, the agreement on which future political relations between Kozhikode`s Samoothiri and the English were based was executed. The Kunjali Marakkars were effective in the 16th century as commander of the Sakozhikode Samoothiri Navy. Mappila`s sailors were famous for their sea guerrilla wars and hand-to-hand fighting. The small, light and mobile Mappila ships posed a major threat to Portuguese shipping along the west coast of India. But the Mappila artillery was inferior, and the ships were not able to carry out large joint/organized operations. The traders designed Mappila-Korsairs and transported them to transport the spices through the Portuguese blockades. The concept of interpersonal relationship involves social associations, links or links between two or more people. Interpersonal relationships vary in their degree of intimacy or self-openness, but also in their duration, reciprocity and distribution of power, to name but a few dimensions. The context may vary depending on family or kinship relationships, friendship, marriage, relationships with staff, work, clubs, neighbourhoods and places of worship.
Relationships can be governed by law, customs or mutual agreement and form the basis of social groups and society as a whole. The title zamorin first appeared in 1342 in the writings of Ibn Battuta. In the Portuguese book Duarte Barbosa (circa 1516), the title of the ruler of Calicut is indicated as “Amidre” or “Zomodri”, derived from the local Malayalam samoothiri or s`m`tiri. This was thought to be derived from Sanskrit samudra (“sea”) and have the meaning “Lord of the Sea”. In fact, the notion of Sanskrit svami and Sri (who become tiri in combination) is embellishing Krishna Iyer as “emperor”.
